In order to pay special tribute to the Swiss artist Ida Buchmann, who was shown in February 2019 in the exhibition “Flying High: Women Artists of Art Brut” at the Kunstforum/Vienna, we wanted to set a female accent at this year’s Drawing Now and bring it into focus. Strong strokes and almost gaudy colours distinguish her works, which were created at great speed and harmonise perfectly with the male position of Arnold Schmidt.

Ida Buchmann got also selected for the Master Now – a section that gives special attention to ten contemporary masterpieces of the entire fair.
