We are pleased to present our first gallery gugging – Online Viewing Room. It is dedicated to the works of Christa Wiener, opens its doors online at galeriegugging.com on March 5 and will be open for you until March 31. To get you in the mood, we would like to introduce you to the artist, who draws her inspiration from nature, in a little more detail today:

Born in Vienna, Christa Wiener first discovered drawing for herself at a creative workshop and has now been working at the studio gugging for over 10 years. Shapes and optical balance are very important to the artist, which is also reflected in her motto:

“I go to the forest and in the forest I compose my pictures.”

Christa Wiener draws, as she says herself, organically botanical works and gets her inspiration exclusively from nature, which has been a big part of her life since childhood. On her almost daily walks she observes plants, trees, shrubs and leaves as they grow, orienting herself by their shapes & colours and then incorporating these impressions into her works. Meticulously, structured and extremely delicate, she lets her works with pencil, fineliner, felt pens, Indian ink and often in more than five layers of coloured pencils arise and thus opens up a fascinating depth that pulls you right in.
