We are pleased to draw your attention to the exhibition “I Burn in Sun, Moon and Stars” by the French artist Margot in Jagodina and Belgrade.

The exhibition in Jagodina features large-scale works on paper, a series of drawings on old photographs, and notebooks full of studies of organic flower-like forms. The configuration of the exhibition space at the Museum of Naive and Marginal Art is reminiscent of Margot’s own studio – an inner and outer sanctuary that immerses viewers in the artist’s highly idiosyncratic view of the world.

Before Margot began her artistic career, she ran her own business. After the financial collapse of her private business in 2014, Margot felt a strong inner need to paint. Her ancestors worked in the woods and fields, and as she recalls “it was a simple existence, a life that followed the seasons.” The need to return to such a rhythm of life attracted the artist again and again. Margot withdrew from the pace of fast-paced city life and began to paint in a way that Professor Colin Rhodes describes as letting go of everything that had accumulated over the years, like a visionary flood of images. This compulsive creative urge has never left her and the artist still draws every day.

Margot quickly gained recognition in the art scene. This was followed by numerous exhibitions in galleries and museums in Europe and the USA (Andrew Edlin Gallery, New York, The College of Psychic Studies, London, Museum Montanelli, Prague, Candid Arts Trust Centre, London, Galerie Henry Boxer, London, Art et marges Museum, Brussels) and her works can be found in numerous museums and private collections around the world.
