The gallery gugging provides works by the two Austrian art brut artists Arnold Schmidt and Heinrich Reisenbauer for a cross-study art project at the SAE Media Campus in Vienna: For the first time students of SAE want to make Gugging art experienceable by means of virtual reality and thus also inspire a younger audience for this special artistic style.
SAE managing director and campus manager Christian Ruff is very enthusiastic about the planned endless project: “In the course of their studies, the students create their very own world from the works of the “Artists from Gugging”, whose origin completely lies in the image and transfers the power of the work into virtual space.“ Successive student generations, who will also participate in the creation of these growing digital art worlds, make the cooperation between SAE Media Campus and the gallery gugging unpredictable and unique throughout the world – just like the internationally traded art brut art from Gugging itself. The long-term VR project will be accompanied by the two SAE department heads Lauren Klocker and Samy El-Aasar.
“This unusual cooperation is a contemporary approach to the works of the “Artists from Gugging” Arnold Schmidt and Heinrich Reisenbauer. This is completely new territory for us and we are already very excited about the results,” says Nina Katschnig.
