Very little is known about Elisabeth Moritzi’s life. Her drawings were created during Gugging’s early days, when she was at the “Gugging Sanatorium and Nursing Home,” presumably under the supervision of Erna Navratil, and was completing drawing tests. Her artistic potential went unrecognized at the time, and her works were forgotten.

The drawings that have survived to this day offer insight into a body of work that was previously little known and highlight Elisabeth Moritzi as an artist in the early history of Gugging.
