On Wednesday, 2 September 2026, at 7:00 pm, we warmly invite you to the finissage at galerie gugging. Together with gallery director Nina Katschnig, you will have the opportunity to discover the exhibition from a very special perspective during an exclusive curator-led tour.

COMICS brut brings together four extraordinary artistic positions by Didier Kassaï, Basel Al-Bazzaz, Manuel Griebler und Hannes Lehner, opening up an engaging dialogue between comics and Art Brut. What may initially appear to be two different visual worlds reveals, on closer inspection, surprising commonalities – direct in expression, distinctive in visual language and full of narrative power.

A special highlight of the exhibition is the work of Central African artist Didier Kassaï, presented in Austria for the first time as part of COMICS brut. Look forward to fascinating background stories about the exhibition, insights into the curatorial work and a relaxed close to this special evening.
