Ricco/Maresca Gallery in New York presents a solo exhibition of Alfred Neumayr, on view both in person and as an online viewing room.
Alfred Neumayr understood his artistic practice as “drawing nothingness” — an open, generative state from which forms, figures, or entire worlds can emerge. After a burnout, he turned to art in 2005 and, from 2011 onward, developed a consistent daily practice in Gugging’s open studio. Working with India ink and pencil, he allowed lines to wander freely until dense pictorial spaces formed through fine marks, scratches, and physical interventions. His works move between abstraction and figuration, capturing the moment when something begins to come into being.
