We are pleased to present our newest gallery gugging – Online Viewing Room this October. It’s dedicated to the works of Leopold Strobl, opens its doors online at galeriegugging.com from October 1 and can be visited until October 31. Exciting, never-before-shown works by the artist from 2020 and 2021 await you. To get you in the mood, we would like to introduce you to the likeable artist, whose works can also be found in the renowned MoMA Museum in New York, in a little more detail.
Leopold Strobl was born in Mistelbach in 1960 and has been a welcome guest at the studio gugging for over fifteen years. The diligent artist draws in the morning and produces a new work of art almost every day. He finds the ideas – templates rather – for his small-format drawings, which look like magnetic portals, in local daily and weekly newspapers. Once he has selected a motif, he first devotes himself to the black areas, then the sky is coloured green, and finally the edge is emphasised. Strobl, as he says himself, finds a green sky much more romantic than a blue one. For his works, the artist uses coloured pencils in black, light green, three different shades of yellow and only rarely the colour red. If you want to learn even more about the exciting artist with the big bushy beard, we recommend our short film, which was made last November on the occasion of his 60th birthday.
We hope you will enjoy diving into our newest Online Viewing Room and the wonderful world of Leopold Strobl from October 1, 2021.
