We are delighted to participate in PARALLEL VIENNA for the first time this year. From 9 to 13 September 2026, we will present an exciting solo presentation of Gugging Artist Jürgen Tauscher at the historic Otto Wagner Areal.

Under the title “Vom Abheben und Zutexten”, our gallery statement invites you to immerse yourself in Jürgen Tauscher’s distinctive universe of drawing, writing, construction, and movement.

Jürgen Tauscher designs and develops, drawing line after line: First, he creates the basic structure, supports, and mechanisms; only then does he turn his attention to the outer form—almost like an engineer. In doing so, Tauscher is less an inventor of a fantasy world than a precise designer of independent systems of imagery, language, and movement.

Pencil lines merge into frameworks, sequences, frames, and surfaces; dense hatching gives rise to airplanes, helicopters, Enterprise fleets, submarines, houses, and technically hybrid constructions. Found fragments of text are detached from their original context and reorganized as word-images. Even the signature remains fluid: Tauscher crosses it out, flips it, alters the years, or adopts names from his surroundings—sometimes even those of his fellow artists. Authorship takes flight and dissolves into itself: the signature remains present while simultaneously becoming one of many building blocks in the unmistakable Tauscher cosmos.

At the center is the artist’s drawing surface, which he has used over an extended period. Layers and tracesof his daily work make the creative process immediately visible: at once a worktable, a canvas, and an archive—a kind of flight recorder where intuition, hand, and paper converge.
