How does art guide us through the treacherous waters of the present? How do we guide art through the shallows of political turmoil? With this year’s theme, NAVIGATING ANGST, VIENNA ART WEEK 2026 focuses on an experience that is omnipresent yet rarely articulated with precision: angst.
As part of this year’s ART WEEK, the exhibition BotenStoff—a collaboration between Werd:art and galerie gugging—will open on Tuesday, November 10, from 5 to 7 pm. The galerie gugging will showcase works by the Gugging Artists Helmut Hladisch and Arnold Schmidt. Different worlds of experience come together without being smoothed over, and it is precisely in this that a form of orientation in motion emerges.
Every year, VIENNA ART WEEK shines a spotlight on Vienna’s vibrant visual arts scene. Together with around 70 program partners, the festival offers a week of inspiring art from the present to the Baroque with free admission.
