In keeping with the season, we devote ourselves again to contemplative sounds. We are delighted that we have succeeded in bringing the singer Kana, who lives in Los Angeles, to Austria for one of her rare solo concerts: on Sunday, 2 December 2018, at 5 pm in the Villa Gugging as part of the kulturhügel advent. Admission is at 4:30 pm.

Get your ticket for € 25,– online at www.galeriegugging.com!

There is also the possibility to buy tickets at the box office directly at the entrance. Due to the limited number of seats available, we request that you notify us in advance by email under special.edition@galeriegugging.com so that we can reserve your seat for you.

KANA was born in Canada in 1988 as the daughter of a Japanese Yamaha music manager and a Brazilian nurse and samba dancer. At the age of seven, the family moved to Los Angeles, where Kana still lives today. Music was omnipresent in her family and so Kana stood on stage for the first time at the tender age of four.

Besides music, spirituality is a second important factor in her life. While her father can be described as an agnostic, spirituality plays an important role in her mother’s life and in her Brazilian environment, to which Kana feels very close. After finishing high school, she studied jazz at UCLA. After a car accident she survived only through great luck. This incident influenced her further artistic life very much: she got panic attacks, which were so violent that she almost lost her voice. She whispered and sang inaudibly quietly for fear of losing her voice completely. In order to find “back to the light” again, she began to combine her two passions – spirituality and music – and wrote “uplifting songs” especially for her soft voice.

Through friends and acquaintances her music made it to the Brazilian “Spiritual Healer” Joao de Deus (= John of God), who loved her music and decided that Kana should travel with him in the future and sing at his events (often in front of more than 5,000 people). She then toured the world with him (North America, Europe, Australia) and sold 20,000 of her debut album, produced with the simplest means.

Kana has now turned back to the music she loves and studied: Jazz in the style of Nat King Cole or Frank Sinatra. She has just completed the studio recordings for her new jazz album entitled “I LOVE LOVE”, which will be released in 2019. Only in German-speaking countries she currently gives concerts with her spiritual music to thank those faithful fans whose love and enthusiastic reactions have helped Kana through her darkest time. On December 2 one of these rare concerts will take place in the gallery gugging.
